Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a chiropractic adjustment?
The chiropractor uses his/her hands, or an instrument, to manipulate the patient’s joints (the spine in particular), in order to enhance the function of joints. The adjustments often help resolve joint inflammation. The procedures are adapted to meet the specific needs of each patient.

2. What conditions do you treat?
Chiropractors are well-known for their expertise in aiding patients with neck pain, back pain, and headaches. The doctors also treat sports injuries and many other disorders involving ligaments, muscles, and joints. Our core body structure affects overall function and health, so chiropractic care extends far beyond neck and back pain. Here are some of the musculoskeletal conditions the chiropractor may be able to help you with:

  • Carpal Tunnels Syndrome
  • Frozen Joints
  • Herniated Discs
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Sciatica
  • Scoliosis
  • Shin Splints
  • Sprains/Strains
  • Tendinitis
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Whiplash

As well as injuries obtained from Auto Accidents, Sports Injuries, and Work Accidents.

3. Can you treat children?
Chiropractic care is very beneficial for children. Children experience bumps and falls from activities of daily living, as well as many injuries from participating in sports. As a result of their physical activity, they may experience symptoms including back and neck pain, discomfort, soreness, or stiffness. The chiropractic care is adapted to each individual patient, always. The skilled treatment is very gentle for the comfort of children.

Unknown by many, there are also many childhood disorders that are typically connected to spinal dysfunction. These orders include:

  • ADHD

  • Asthma

  • Bedwetting/Constipation

  • Colic/Reflux

  • Ear Infections

  • Growing Pains

  • Headaches

  • Persistent Sore Throats & Colds

  • Recurrent Ear Infections

Spinal misalignments do not always result in immediate symptoms or pain. Parents should also be aware that emotional and chemical stressors affect a child’s Central Nervous System, which warrants spinal check-ups. Chiropractic adjustments help to enhance future well-being and function, as well.

4. Can you treat pregnant women?
Chiropractic adjustments have been found to improve pregnancies and even make delivery easier for the mother and child. Based upon the stage of pregnancy, and the unique needs of the patient, the adjustments are adapted to accommodate. During pregnancy, there are pelvic changes and postural adaptations such as a protruding abdomen and an increased back curve.

Benefits of chiropractic during pregnancy include:

  • Controlling symptoms of nausea

  • Preventing a potential cesarean delivery

  • Reducing the time of labor and delivery

  • Relieving back, neck or joint pain

A baby presenting breech is normal, but can be a concern late in the pregnancy. There’s a technique known as the Webster Technique that has a high success rate of babies turning into proper position for a safe birth.

5. Can you treat bulging/herniated discs?
Bulging discs and herniated discs are common spinal injuries. Many people may not even know they are suffering with this condition until a nerve is impinged, causing pain. Along with pain, there are other adverse effects such as, loss of range of motion, numbing, or uncomfortable tingling and burning.

One of the most popular alternative treatments is chiropractic care. Once it is confirmed that a patient has a bulging or herniated disc, a treatment may include adjustments, disc decompression, and rehabilitation exercises to enhance the patient’s recovery.
